Beware of Hotel Scams
There is an increase of scam activity around Furry hotels and finding roommates. NEVER pay for a hotel room (or give a ‘deposit’) before arriving and verifying that the person does indeed have a room and a key for you. NEVER send someone you do not know personally a deposit over the internet without meeting them in person at the hotel. If a person protests, then they probably are a scammer. Scammers are getting smarter and can present documentation they may have obtained from other people trying to prove they have a room. If they insist on a deposit prior to meeting, block them, find someone else. If someone msges you about a Hotel room and you suspect they are a scammer, please let the moderation team know.
Do not book outside the block
Booking outside the block will not only have you paying higher rates, but it hurts us as a convention as we rely on our hotel block being filled to get certain benefits for the hotel. It is important that it be as full as possible. ONLY use the official booking link provided by VF to book your hotel stay. Also, if you have to cancel your room, be sure to use the email cancellation link on your booking confirmation. DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL, or it will not end up back in the con’s Block.

VF Tiered Booking System
To help with preventing overloading of the booking site and mayhem of previous years in a free-for-all style of booking, and making sure that the people who are getting to book rooms are our attendees, VF uses a tiered booking system, offering hotel rooms to registered and fully paid attendees in sequence based on their registration levels and times via email.
In order to qualify for a tier, you must have purchased and paid for your pass prior to the release date. If you purchase after that date, you will get your letter in the next available release.
When we open hotel booking, we will offer the booking link to to patrons, then sponsors, then supporters, then general attendees in that order who are paid and registered at the time we are ready to open hotel booking. Then we will send an email to that group with the email they registered with. Attendees will then will have a certain amount of time to use that link and do their booking before the next wave is sent out.
After all the attendees who have preregistered have had a chance to use the link, we will open it to general booking. We cannot guarantee that there will be rooms for *everyone* but we have been working to expand capacity as much as our hotel partners will allow.
To qualify for tiered booking you must be REGISTERED and FULLY PAID for your pass BEFORE the hotel booking opens. We go by registration/payment order as well in each tier, so the earlier, the better.
If you have not yet registered and paid for your pass, we advise you do so asap so you will be in priority sequence when it comes to booking. Last year, this system made booking very smooth and orderly and we got everyone into a hotel at the time we did the booking.
We are still keeping rooms for Dealers, DJs and volunteers as separate booking blocks and they will be handled differently. We advise those people to book as soon as they are given their link to ensure they get their rooms.

Note that Night Lord level memberships receive a guaranteed room that is handled separately than general hotel booking, so they will get their room 100% guaranteed.
Hotel booking will span over 3 hotels
The Richmond Conference Centre has 3 hotels attached it. It includes:
The Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel, The Vancouver Airport Marriott Hotel, and the Hilton Vancouver Airport. These hotels are all in extremely close proximity and a part of the complex. Our hotel block spans all three hotels, the costs are slightly different.
Activities will be taking place in the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel and the Hilton Hotel, but all the hotels are attached by parkade, or can be reached externally with a short 2 min walk.
Two of our Overflow hotels are a short 1 block (4 min) walk from the main complex. Our furthest hotel is only a short 12 minute drive to the RCC.

Hotel Guest Conduct Expectations
Vancoufur seeks to maintain a strong and positive relationship with our hotels and venues by working together to ensure that we can continue to be welcome at this venue (or others) to host our event year over year. Attendee conduct is very important to maintain a good relationship with our venue. As a convention attendee you must abide by the hotel and venue’s rules and policies when you are on the premises and treat the hotel and its staff with respect and courtesy.
- Respect all signs
- Smoke or vape only in designated areas
- Clean up after yourself
- Do not vandalize or damage hotel property or decor.
- Keep signs and promotion materials to designated spaces and do not litter.
- Do not put things on walls without permission from the conventions staff so you get the correct adhesive tape (so the walls aren’t damaged)
- Be respectful of other hotel guests
Remember, your behavior reflects on everyone. Be respectful of the hotel, their staff, and hotel property.
Dealers, Quiet and Loud Rooms
If you require a loud or quiet room please let us know at [email protected]. Note that Parties are ONLY permitted on the party floor, and that parties discovered elsewhere will be shut down as it generates too many noise complaints and we want to keep a good relationship with our partner hotels. If you plan on hosting a party/get together, please apply for party floor.
Reservations can be cancelled for no fee up to 48 hours prior to check-in date. If cancelled less than than 48 hours prior to arrival, 1 room night and tax will be charged.
Cancellation can be done via self service cancellation link in the email confirmation. DO NOT CALL THE HOTEL TO CANCEL A ROOM as it will not return the room to the convention’s booking block.
Loud Rooms must abide by the following rules:
- Loud rooms are not permitted to use dedicated subwoofer or high bass audio systems which can cause noise problems for other guests who are a long distance away. Music must be kept at a reasonable level (80db or lower.)
- Loud rooms are arranged specifically to reduce hall traffic and limit noise pollution to other areas to minimize complaints, if you do not indicate you are a loud room, do not host a party or it will be shut down. You have been warned.
- SMOKING AND VAPING are NOT ALLOWED inside your hotel rooms. There are designated smoking areas, outside and if you do not adhere to them, heavy fines will be assigned to offending rooms.
- Doors and windows must be kept closed at all times to prevent noise pollution from spreading to other floors and outside the building. (It echoes, and the neighbors don’t like it)
- Your room is exclusively YOUR responsibility for the duration of your stay and you will be held responsible for the things that happen in it. Keep it clean and damage free, or you will be charged accordingly.
- If you plan to host a public party, you will be required apply to the party block and abide by all party block rules. Public parties that are unregistered outside the block will be shut down.

Hotel Pet Policy
2 pets permitted at all 3 hotels with pet deposit, dogs and cats permitted, any size with additional room pet fee. Pet fee varies by hotel. Pets are not permitted to be left alone in hotel rooms.
Please note that pets (with the exception of service animals) are not permitted in the con space for sanitary and allergy reasons as a courtesy to other attendees.
Deposit/Cancellation Policy
All reservations must be guaranteed with a major credit card or a first room night deposit +tax if paying by any other method. We recommend for the best experience to use a major credit card to reserve.

Hotel FAQ
Q. I live local, why should I book a room?
There are a lot of good reasons to stay in the hotel, even if you are local. Being right in the middle of the action, not worrying about having to drive or catch transit home late is a big plus. You can relax and enjoy the time with your friends and catch great late night events without having to worry about when that last bus is coming. If you drive, you get free parking all weekend with your room. It supports the con, builds our relationship with the hotel, and it makes it easier for you to enjoy the full range of programing without worrying about when you have to leave. Its also really nice in the morning just to walk down the stairs and be right back into things without having to deal with transit or traffic to be right up front to snag that coveted badge slot in the dealer’s den. It’s a lot less stress at the convention and convenient to enjoy everything the con has to offer.
Q. What’s the Parking Situation at the Convention Venue?
Attendees staying at the Sheraton, Marriott, or Hilton get 1 vehicle of complimentary parking in the conference centre parking lot. Please register your vehicle and license plate when you check in.
Attendees of the conference also get complimentary parking in the conference parking lot. There is a larger parkade at the venue, but it does fill up fairly quickly. We advise people to use transit and rideshare as much as possible. Pay parking lots are available in various locations around the venue.
