What is the Artist Alley?

Vancoufur's Artist Alley is daily showcase of creative talent, from artists, crafters, and other creators to show off their wares in a casual atmosphere. Unlike the Dealer's Den, it is first come, first serve, giving artists an equal chance to have an opportunity to show off their goods, either by reserving a table in advance for up to two days, or by getting a table at convention time. Artist Alley is ideal for:

  • Artists new to selling who want to give it a try with low risk/low time commitment
  • People who may only want to vend for a short time (a few hours to a day)
  • People who might like to trial their products to Vancoufur's audience before committing to a Dealer's Den application
  • Creators who might have missed out on the Dealer's Den but would still like to sell for a few days

Please note if you have been in the artist alley before, please be sure to read this section in full as there are some new rules this year.

What can be sold in Artist Alley?

Vendors must sell only items which they are legally entitled to sell. Please be aware that if you have pirated, or materials that infringe copyright in an illegal manner we will require you to remove the items from your table. It must be your Artwork, handmade items, and merchandise with your artwork/creations on them. You cannot resell merchandise, or product you had no part in making. If you have things you would like to resell, please see our Night Market.

Adult materials are permitted, but there are strict rules regarding display and sale, so if you are planning on selling such items make sure you are familiar with the rules! Violation of these rules will result in your ejection from the Alley. Please see the Artist Alley FAQ for details.

We are no longer allowing the sale of food items in Dealer’s Den OR Artist Alley to be in compliance with Hotel/Catering agreements and policy. Vendors found in non-compliance with these rules will first be asked to rectify the problem. If on follow-up the problem persists, the vendor will be ejected from the Artist Alley.

Applications for Vancoufur’s Artist Alley are opening soon! Applications will be open from November 15, 2018 at 12pm Pacific, and close 11:59pm Pacific January 15, 2019.

Applying for an Artist Alley Table

Tables in the Artist Alley may be reserved in advance, or applied for at con, starting at 10:30 am each day. If reserved tables are unclaimed at 11 am, they will be sold to at con applicants on a First Come, First Served basis.

Each day of the convention (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) must be reserved individually. Applicants may reserve up to two days, in any combination (Fri/Sat, Fri/Sun, Sat/Sun). If you would like a table for a third day, you may apply at con.

We will need to be provided with the following information to complete your Artist Alley application:

  • You MUST already be registered to attend the convention (need to register? go here!)
  • Desired listing name (For the Alley)
  • Detailed description of what you intend to sell.

  • Links to your website or hosted galleries with pictures of your products, if possible. Show us what you sell! As much as possible.
  • If you are planning on having an Artist Alley Assistant (NOT A TABLE SHARE) and who. Assistants may also be added AT the convention and will be provided with a way to identify them as an assistant.
  • You need to fill out the form

Subletting your table (receiving payment from another dealer for space at your table) is not permitted. Please apply separately if you intend to share a table. Let us know in your application who you plan to share with, and we’ll be happy to accommodate you.

To facilitate faster setup and teardown each day, we request that Artist Alley table displays or signage not exceed 15”/38cm in height (one cube display), and not extend beyond the edges of the table or into the walkway.

Please note: Dealers from outside of Canada should also make sure that they are in compliance with the requirements to sell their wares in Canada.
