Our 2026 Community Spotlight, MageMech, honors a fur who brings wonder to life.
MageMech (she/her) has been part of the local furry community since 2022 and is a maker, fursuiter, and wearer of many hats.
Since attending Vancoufur as her first furry con in 2022 Mech has been an avid volunteer working her way into various teams around the convention such as the Rangers, Registration, and Theme Build teams. Mech has also volunteered at other local furry conventions helping out in all manner of roles. She was elected to the BCAEA Board of Directors in 2023 on a 3 year term and has worked on running the annual BCAEA Summer BBQ for the last 2 years.
Through her dedication and positivity she has earned the respect of leadership and fellow volunteers in a short time and is always ready to lend a helping paw.
Mech’s latest and greatest volunteering endeavour is launching a brand new furry convention, Tails of Summer, an 18+ furry convention held just down the road from Vancouver on August 8-9, 2026 as its first Chair. She began the planning back in July of 2024 and is now well on her way to hosting a wonderful new event for our local community, along with a team of friends and dedicated volunteers behind her to make the event a success.
Outside of volunteering Mech is also a vendor selling fursuit glasses and accessories as Mechatech Labs for the last few years and this year is teaming up with her friend Nevvermore to run a table as a joint studio as MechaPixel Co.
Mech has two fursonas, the first and the one she entered the fandom with is MrMechatronics a husky that she got as a partial in October 2022 and has since gotten a full suit made and can be seen wandering around the local conventions. The other fursona is Artemis the winged caracal who Mech now uses as a profile picture. Artemis is a new sona designed this year by her friend Kodo. Artemis was designed as a new sona as part of Mech’s journey through transitioning.
The furry community and the friends Mech has made along the way created a safe space for her to finally figure out who she was meant to be which resulted in her coming out as trans in late 2024 which she firmly believes to be one of the greatest positive changes to ever happen in her life.
